The Ariel Atom 3 is a $65,000 Honda-powered track toy. There have been a lot of different engine options offered for the Atom, but this one features a 2.4L i-VTEC inline-4 engine that produces 230 bhp and is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The Ariel's chassis and suspension is visible throughout the car: it has double wishbone suspension, an optional limited slip differential, and Wilwood 4-piston brake calipers. The tuned JRi dampers are available with adjustable springs that are loosened or tightened using a dial on the damper. However, the car has no ABS nor traction control. On the inside, the Atom 3 has a prehistoric digital gauge cluster and a carbon fiber panel with lots of buttons. Everything is focused on weight reduction, so there's not much inside the Atom. In fact, there are no doors nor roof available; but it's not like you have to worry about ruining any nice materials. The Ariel Atom is built by TMI AutoTech in Virginia, USA. Customers are allowed to come see their car under construction and meet the build crew. First, the tubular chassis is assembled and powder coated. Then, the car is built onto the completed chassis. When it's finished, the car is test driven and thoroughly inspected to ensure the highest quality possible. TMI sends pictures of the completed car to the customer to make sure that everything has been satisfactorily completed. Since it weighs only 1,350 pounds, the Atom 3 can go from 0-60 in less than 3.3 seconds, and completes the quarter mile in around 11.2.
