The McLaren 570s Spider is the third distinct version of the McLaren 570s. It packs an (ahem) 8-liter twin turbo V8 engine that produces 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The sport exhaust sounds great during cold start and revs! The exterior of the 570s Spider is sleek and aerodynamic, just like all McLarens. The Spider is available in three exclusive colors; Vega Blue, Curacao Blue, and Sicilian Yellow. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are standard, as well as carbon ceramic brakes. The dihedral doors feature air channels that send air to radiators that help to cool the engine. The flying buttresses that are on the 570s coupe are omitted on the convertible, so McLaren raised the 570s' spoiler about half an inch to make up for the loss in downforce. Thanks to the Spider's carbon fiber Monocell II body structure, it has the same structural rigidity as the coupe. The tires are kept on the road with double wishbone suspension and adaptive dampers. McLaren's Brake Steer system (which is basically a torque vectoring system) helps carve up corners. On the inside, the 570s Spider has nice optional materials such as Leather and Alcantara, as well as a floating center console, 7-inch touchscreen, and storage areas hidden in the doors. But of course, the main feature is the retractable hardtop. it can open or close in only 15 seconds, while traveling at speeds of up to 25 miles per hour. In addition, the rear window can be raised and lowered to reduce wind noise or amplify the exhaust sound. The car also comes with Normal, Sport, and Track modes. It can reach a top speed of 204 miles per hour, and hit 60 in only 3.1 seconds- identical to the coupe's times. Completing the quarter mile takes only 0.1 seconds longer in the convertible, at 11 seconds. With the top down, the 570s has a top speed of 196 miles per hour, but that sounds pretty painful. So, overall, the McLaren 570s Spider is the perfect car for cruising around town.
